Hello and welcome to Year 1’s class page. On this page you will find lots of information about our school day and all the exciting things we have done or have planned. There are three classes in Year 1:
1LB - Miss Halhead
1SM - Mrs Mitchell
1CK - Miss Keaveney
The three year 1 classes will be supported by Miss Stewart and Miss Begum
We are looking forward to working with your children this year and meeting you all too! We will continue to use Class Dojo as a further means of communication. Please see our newsletter and curriculum map (below) for information about our routines and learning in Year 1.
In Year 1, your child will be provided with a stimulating, challenging, exciting curriculum that develops their curiosity and interest in the wider world around them. As stated in our motto, we aim to create brilliant citizens! Therefore, we have high aspirations for our children and endeavour to maximise their potential academically, socially, emotionally and otherwise through a broad, balanced curriculum that puts the children at the centre of learning and everything that we do.
Our classrooms are exciting places to learn and is fostered by a cooperative, collaborative approach to learning. In this, the children learn to work as part of a team whilst at the same time developing their independence. Should you walk into any of our classrooms, you are guaranteed to feel the buzz that is reciprocated by both the teachers and pupils which is a direct result of our enthusiasm and passion for learning. Why not be inquisitive and ask us about what we have been learning? We will only be too happy to share!
We use Success For All for our phonics and reading programme. There is a link to the parent portal with lots of great resources and videos to support you at home.
